What We Do
❖ Assessments ❖
❖ Intelligence Assessment
Internationally recognized tools will be used to assess children's intellectual functions, encompassing verbal reasoning, perceptual reasoning, working memory, and processing speed. We recommend a formal assessment for children who may have an intellectual delay, exhibit learning, behavioral, emotional, or social difficulties, or may have exceptional intellectual abilities (giftedness). We aim to provide comprehensive evaluations that help parents understand their children's cognitive profiles, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding their educational and developmental needs.
❖ Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Assessment
For children who experience ongoing challenges related to sustained attention and emotional and behavioral control, we recommend an ADHD assessment. Our psychologist will employ a combination of neuropsychological tests and clinical observation, aiming to determine if a child is suspected of having ADHD and to evaluate the presence of any comorbid conditions or cognitive difficulties that may complicate the diagnosis. Early identification and intervention for ADHD is crucial in reducing the risk of developing oppositional behavior. By addressing these concerns proactively, we can support children in managing their symptoms and fostering positive behavioral outcomes.
❖ Dyslexia Assessment
Children who encounter persistent difficulties in word recognition and written language are advised to undergo a dyslexia assessment to investigate the potential presence of dyslexia. Dyslexia often has detrimental impacts on children's reading comprehension abilities, impeding their acquisition of knowledge. Our psychologist will employ standardized assessments to evaluate the child's literacy levels and identify deficits in cognitive functioning. The assessment outcomes will serve as a valuable blueprint for developing targeted interventions that aim to amplify the child's learning potential and provide the support that empowers the child to flourish academically, surmounting the hurdles imposed by Dyslexia.
❖ Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Assessment
If your child experiences challenges in social communication and displays repetitive behavior, we recommend an ASD assessment to determine the presence of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our assessments also include evaluating developmental milestones and the possibility of other coexisting developmental disorders, such as ADHD. ASD is a lifelong condition that can significantly impact social interaction and the ability to adapt to daily life. Early intervention plays a vital role in enhancing a child's future development and well-being.
❖ Emotional & Behavioural Disorders Assessment
Anxiety, anger, irritability, aggression, social withdrawal, and unexplained physical symptoms are typical indicators of emotional and behavioral challenges in children. These issues can significantly impact a child's academic performance, social development, and cognitive functioning. It is crucial to recognize that the child is not intentionally being difficult. Instead, it is essential to uncover the underlying causes of these problems and seek professional mental health assistance. By understanding the child's struggles, we can provide the necessary support and guidance to navigate through periods of intense emotions and unwanted behaviors.
❖ Developmental Delay Assessment
Developmental Delay refers to a gradual lag in the development of cognitive abilities, motor skills, language skills, social skills, and emotional regulation abilities compared to typical milestones. These critical abilities undergo rapid growth during the formative years from zero to six. Recognizing and addressing developmental delays early on is crucial, as it enables children to acquire missing skills and catch up with their peers at an appropriate pace. Timely intervention plays a pivotal role in facilitating their overall development and ensuring they have the necessary tools for success.
